How Social CRM is Like Reservoir Dogs

Reservoir Dogs

Welcome. Now you’re part of the team.

Social CRM fits in nicely with the Social Business, and to run a Social Business, you need a social team. A Dream Team, if you will. You’ll be thrown a lot of different challenges during your transition and process of running a Social CRM, and through proper training, rollout, on-boarding and screening processes, you’ll be wanting to put together a crackpot group of experts to surround your social efforts. Remember, Social CRM touches a lot of different departments, so you’ll be needing a lot of different skill sets.

Let’s look at those on the team:

  1. Mr. White – First on the list is your Mr. White. Mr. White is your experience. He’s the guy who knows what’s what and can see the whole picture. He may not see everything that’s coming down the pipe, but he’s dealt with it all and remains calm in the face of adversity. More than likely, your Mr. White will take the form of your Executive Champion, the C-Suite executive that provides the channels and support you need to get the Social CRM off the ground in the first place. Mr. White demands respect because he’s earned it and will be the one guiding your efforts in the space. Mr. White is your strategist and mentor, listen to him.
  2. Mr. Orange – Mr. Orange is the newbie. He’s excited just to be on the team and has a whole lot to say. You’ve got a Social CRM plan and Mr. Orange is by his very nature, social. He can easily fit in to any situation and breeds trust and companionship. Even when he eventually doesn’t see eye to eye with everyone on the team, he still earns their trust and respect because he works hard and always keeps the lines of communication open. Mr. Oranges fit best within customer service roles because they can adapt to any conversation like double agents, creating ease wherever they go.
  3. Mr. Blonde – Mr. Blonde will do anything to get the results he is looking for. While your team probably won’t have to resort to oldies-themed torture, your Mr. Blondes will be the ones that stop at nothing to meet deadlines and bring in leads. Mr. Blondes fit in best on sales teams because they are determined and let nothing slow them down. They can be conniving and no one really knows what they’re thinking. Mr. Blondes can be dangerous, but are incredibly strong assets when working for you.
  4. Mr. Pink – Don’t be naive about it, there will be naysayers on your team that you have to convince. They’ll start out by only being “in it for the money,” but once they’re acclimated to the team, they’ll get the job done. In truth, not everyone is a rockstar and you need people on your team to keep you all grounded in how the “real world” works. Trust Mr. Pinks to be a pain at the beginning, but once they’re on your side, they’re on it for good.

Yes, there will be Mr. Blues and Mr. Browns as well, but they’ll simply round out your sales, marketing and customer service teams and play background roles to help you all reach your CRM goals. Putting together an awesome team is hard work, but when you take the time to put all the right people in the right places, you’ll put yourself in the position to really run away with a huge score.

Are you ready? Because this time you’ll have both proof and instinct.
